Shannon Christopher Leto, we miss you

It's been a while since we've read you on Twitter. And even though you are not as talkative as lil bro, I've been used to your rare, short (and sometimes hazy-mazy) comments such as "Tulum rules" or "Spa. Wanna come ?".


Surprisingly, I miss those few words full of mexican culture/history or full of a good sense of humour. Your "wanna come ?" had made my day (are you mental by the way ? You must be brave to ask such questions...or you must have faith in the strength and toughness of your body).


Let's say things straight, I am not in love with you Shannon Christopher Leto. How could I be in love with a picture ?


If I met you on a street, I would not tear my clothes up and I would not offer myself body and soul. I would just shake your hand...er, no. No shaking hands. Jared could have a heart attack just at the thought of an association of the words "shake" and "hands" with the name of his brother.

And I am just wondering why (not really true as I have already written something to explain why I liked you. Anyway. It's just HERE if you've got the time to read it).

What if we talked about your tatoos ? I love tatoos...when they are small and sober (or discreet, or whatever the correct word is). Yours are huuuuuge (I'm talking about the one on your shoulder and arm).

If I wanted my "inner-self" to be in accordance with my likes and dislikes, I would have to hate that. But I don't. Weird, isn't it ?

I am not a weather-cock. It's just that your tatoos fit on YOU. Should I decide to have the same one on my shoulder, I would just look ridiculous.

Anyway. Today, I simply wanted to tell you that we are quite a few people on this planet to like you. And we would like you to visit us a bit more often when you have a spare moment.

The faces of Mars...God ! Where do they get these ideas from ?

Since I have discovered a passion for the Thirty Seconds To Mars' music, I am gripped by a wild frenzy for writing.


Before the...er...breakthrough, I had really struggled to keep this blog updated ("oh God, what am I going to talk about ?"). I did not want to talk about myself nor about the town I am living in. Even if I had made one or two timid attempts, these topics did not really inspire me (I am a topic, uuh ?). I did not want to talk about books or movies (others do it better than I ever will) and I did not want to talk about what's happening around the world (we already have the news on TV, newspapers and internet).


So, I was left "empty-minded"...until my third-type encounter with Mars.


Today, thanks to the 30stm music, tons of topics cross my mind quite frequently at unexpected times : when I am driving (thank you CD player), when I am doing this or that in my every day life (thank you Ipod) and even when "showering" (thank you podgear)...


One thing though. When you shower, you'd better not listen to Closer to the Edge. I have devastated the bathroom. It was not my fault anyway. It was Shannon's. I couldn't resist the crazy-wacko-mental-cuckoo-doolally-screwy rythm of the drums.


The showerhead could not either. There was water everywhere...oops.


My advise : listen to Alibi instead. It's safer.

My mind (not empty anymore) is now boiling. Steam shaped like words escapes from every single cell of my brain. Everything that I learn is grist for the mill. And as far as the 30stm are concerned, there is enough material to fill a huge sack. Like the ant in Jean de la Fontaine's fable, I intend to stock (one never knows, winter might come). 


So, yesterday night, I have accidentally found one of those many topics : "The faces of Mars".


Uuuh ?? I had just finished to absorb the principle of the 12 steps to Mars thing when, bang !! something new was striking my head with the strength of a cannonball.

Naturally, I immediately decided to give a closer look at this new "concept" and started to glean information from the web.


Actually, in 2009, and in order to help the launch of their new album, the band had asked their fans to submit photos. The 2000 fastest would have the chance to have their face on one of the 2000 individual covers of the album "This Is War". I read somewhere that Jared had said that this "Face of Mars" campaign was not a publicity stunt but a huge "thanks" to the fans.

Then, in 2010, the band released a mosaic featuring all the people who had contributed to the "Faces of Mars" campaign.

You must take a look at THIS (an interactive mosaic, crazily funny...and surprisingly moving. Click and watch...and listen - this goes without saying). 


The band had already made their fans participate in the recording of the album. They then continued with that !!


By Merlin's baggy pants, this is genius !! Could we imagine something more intelligent in terms of communication ?


I am perhaps not very objective but I think that this band is really head and shoulders above any other band. At least in the field of communication. One cannot deny it even if they don't like the 30stm and their music (Fuc.....*¤§#^°** stupid morons).

Shannon Leto from Mars...see who I'm talking about ?

I'm gonna tell you a secret.


If there were, apart from me, only two people left on Earth, say after a huge tsunami or a gigantic earthquake or any joyful event of the same sort and if these two men (men of course. My "sexological" sign is heterosexual, ascendant heterosexual - we are who we are, right ?)...so, if these two men were Shannon and Jared Leto (I have cautiously used the "IF" twice, you've noticed that, haven't you ?), I'd definitely choose Shannon.


But allow me first to clarify things. I do not languish over the Leto brothers nor do I heave desperate sighs when I come across a photo of one of these two fellows. I do not shout in a hysterical manner when I hear them talk and, believe it or not, I even manage not to faint at the sight of Jared's abs.

See that girl ? It's not me.

Now that things are clear, let me explain why I'd choose the eldest brother (If...).


1 - Jared has 355 363 twitfollowers (the number might have increased by the time you reach my post). Shannon has "only" 89 095 followers (same remark about the increasing number).


What do you think ? Won't it be easier to bump 89 095 people off instead of nearly 400 000 (in case the natural disaster has spared other people than me and the 2 Letos) ?


2 - Shannon is not very talkative. So, there's a big part of mystery surrounding him. I am naturally attracted by mysteries. Ok, in my real life, "mistery" men have done no good to me in the end but as it is not here a question of starting anything real between the two of us ("this is not reality..."), I can confess that I definitely prefer this behaviour to that more extrovert of his brother.


3 - I know nothing about drums. It would be impossible to me to name all the elements of the whole drums thing. I would be totally unable to root a single sound out of the drums if you gave me two sticks (I mean a harmonious sound 'cause I could surely make a lot of noise). But there is one thing that I know for sure : it is the first time ever that when I listen to a song, I concentrate on the drums. It is the first time ever that the sound of drums makes me feel alive. In my long love story with music, there is definitely a before-Shannon Leto and an after-Shannon Leto.


This might sound crazy but I am crazy anyway. So...

4 - Twitter again. While Jared tweets 1 billion times a day (a bit of exaggeration won't kill), Shannon tweets 1 time (see point 2 about the non-talkativeness...er...is this word english ?) BUT, I am 99% sure (always allow 1% to doubt) that it is him who tweets whereas his mischievous brother does not always tweet himself. I have noticed a couple of time (concerts in Switzerland and Madrid for example) that "he" (?) was tweeting and he was on stage at the same time (mischievous, I told you...and omnipresent). So, to me, Shannon is a bit more...tactful towards his fans.
EDIT 01/04/2011 : I don't know how to put this...er...I've just learnt that one could schedule updates (I've just done it myself). So, Jared might have scheduled his Tweeter updates. This could explain what I thought was "omnipresence". Hem...mea culpa. Doesn't change the fact that I'd choose shannon anyway ;-)


5 - Shannon has written ("created" would be a better word) L490. I have already said it in a previous post : one must be very sensitive to be able to create such a melody. So, the image of the bad guy must be just an image. If I'm wrong, I'm ready to take the veil.

So, let's sum up : Less fans (which is a huuuuuge quality), an aura of mystery, tactfulness, sensitiveness, not very talkative, EXCELLENT drummer (the best ever to me as far as I can judge)...


These are the reasons why I'd choose Shannon.


...and we would happily get rid of Jared...ok, ok, I won't kill the whole 400 000 followers. I'll spare one for Jared...one fond of S&M and bondage...just in case...





Oh, I had forgotten to add "funny" in my "sum up". Funny and secretive, you've noticed that either, haven't you ? ;-)
